The 18th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa has concluded after four days of interaction and networking between the African security personnel in Gaborone, Botswana. Held under the theme โ€œ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜†, ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—”๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎโ€, the conference was officially closed by the Minister for State President Mr Kabo Morwaeng this afternoon.

In his remarks, Hon Morwaeng expressed gratitude to CISSA community for allowing Botswana to host this yearโ€™s conference. Hon Morwaeng informed the gathering that the โ€œopportunity to host this conference aligns well with a decision by the President of the Republic of Botswana, His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi to position Botswana as a meeting and conferences hosting nationโ€.

He also seized the opportunity to implore the CISSA community and Heads of Intelligence and Security organs to heighten their collaboration and cooperation in order to overcome common security threats facing Africa. CISA is a collective body for Intelligence and Security organs of Africa established in 2004 to assist the African Union and all its institutions to effectively address the seemingly stubborn security challenges confronting Africa.

One of the key milestones of the 18th CISSA conference was seeing the Director General of the Botswana Directorate of Intelligence and Security, Retired Brigadier Peter Magosi being conferred with the Chairmanship of the CISSA for a period of twelve months.
