Zebras Going Backwards Since 2012- Major Bright
Former Mogoditshane Fighters and National Team Coach Major David Bright said that the national team has just been going backwards since their AFCON qualification back in 2012.
The Botswana Senior National Team, the Zebras, were defeated by Mauritania 1-0 in their 2019 AFCON qualification Group I match played at the Francistown Stadium in the Ghetto on Saturday.
The win took Mauritania to the top of Group I with 3 points, while the Zebras are rooted at the bottom with zero points.
Mohamed Abdellahi scored the decisive goal in the 78th minute.
With the result the Zebras have now lost 5 games in a row, conceding 10 goals and scoring just 3 in the process.
Coach Bright, who currently heads Morupule Wanderers in Palapye, said he saw a group of young inexperienced Zebras fail to match their opponents at the weekend.
He also questioned Team selection, urging the Botswana Football Association to introspect.
