Why Aren’t Local Acts Currently Dominating Playlists Not Seen At Events?-Owen Rampha
For years local artists have been complaining for being ‘sidelined’. If it is not getting bookings and not being taken seriously by promoters, it is them being made to feel inferior to international acts and being paid peanuts.
Veteran DJ, Owen ‘Mr O’ Rampha is also wondering what is going on in the local music industry. He took to social media to ask why local acts who are currently dominating radio playlists, charts and generally playing in public not seen performing in big events. he gave examples with the likes of ATI who recently released an album and has trending songs from the album, Dramaboi who is forever trending, Amantle Brown and HanC who released a single recently and the song is still trending.
“How many times am I going to see a big event without Drama Boy, Han C, ATI and Amantle Brown on the lineup? Are these not the local acts currently dominating radio playlists, top twenties, dikhombi le dikoloi tsa lona ne bathong?Kana u dont want to see them ba stagitse?”
The latest big event in the country was the GIMC festival this past weekend and locally they had the likes of Stany Stan, MMP Family, Vee Mampeezy and ATI among others who was added to the line up just a day a few days before the festival.
