Have the two (2) factions within the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) kissed and made up or what we are being shown is nothing but a cosmetic love affair?
There has been reports of brewing factionalism in the party, with some councillors getting suspended for aligning themselves with Mpho Balopi’s faction. Yesterday there was Special Central Committee Meeting at the State House, and according to Balopi’s Facebook post, the “BDP is welded together”.
“One thing about the BDP – We are welded together by voluntary desire and a commitment to serve Batswana. This spirit cannot be taken out of us. It is who we are, and it is why we exist as a party.
This afternoon after cabinet His Excellency the President chaired a very spirited and jovial Special Central Committee. As always, we emerged more charged to see out the mandate of advancing Botswana.
It was a humbling experience for all Central Committee and Tsholetsa staff members to be served tea by HE at his home immediately after the meeting.
With National activities opening up and by-elections looming, we are ready and raring to go. The RESET agenda has been spelt out and HE is leading it with zeal and honour. We are focused and united right behind him in delivering Batswana’s expectations. We all owe it to Batswana to maintain this Unity on the basis of kagisano.
Let’s roll up our sleeves, Madomi. Let’s hold hands and do this together. Let us advance this country further by maintaining our voluntary desire and commitment to service. That is what it means to be a MODOMI. A e Jeke Domi. Tsholetsa domkrag!” Balopi said through a Facebook post.
Prior to the meeting, there were claims that some Ministers who are under Balopi’s faction will be removed from the cabinet. Did a cup of coffee fix all the ruling party’s problems? Only time will tell.
