“We are free to engage each other robustly, but ever mindful of the fact that the charms and allurements of our togetherness prevail over the faults and flaws of or past experiences. We are bigger, stronger and better together! But our togetherness carries certain injunctive responsibilities and imposes on us strict protocols dictating how we, the leaders and members ought to conduct ourselves. The leadership more so, must be exemplars of probity and collective sacrifice”. Duma Gideon Boko, the President of the UDC asserted.
Speaking earlier today during the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) press conference, Boko urged members of the UDC not to be distractive to the coalition in their differences and disagreements.
In a press conference which was held after a UDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held at Palapye over the weekend, the contracting parties revealed that they managed to resolve their hiccups. According to the UDC Vice President Dumelang Saleshando, they have crossed that bridge as a party, and are now looking ahead. “Let us accept that the story which we have been going with is over, we agree that we will continue negotiating, we agree that we will not agree all the time. However, we will continue seeing how we resolve our issues.” said Saleshando.
For his part, Boko said ”The whole country breathed a sigh of relief. Palapye did not turn out to be the ill omen it could have become. Our emotional blind spots were overcome. Decent forbearance reigned.” he added, “The NEC resolved that there be constitutional review and other parties will be part of the process when they join the UDC upon conclusion of opposition unity talks.”
“The BDP President’s ill constructed fiction of some reset amounts to no more than a clumsy political con game. Our people are crying out to us for rescue. They are crying out from the depths. They have been let down by a President whose depraved indifference to their plight and suffering is matched only by his insatiable greed. We dare not fail them.”
