Vice President Tsogwane encourages SEZA to be visible

When welcoming SEZA delegation, Vice President Tsogwane said Members of Parliament and Batswana wish to see SEZA visible in all parts of the country. He acknowledged that there is a need to change some legislation for the authority to function at full capacity. He further said for SEZA to accomplish its mandate there is a need for all stakeholders to work together for concerted efforts.

SEZA Chief Executive Officer Lonely Mogara explained that the authority’s primary objective is to premier investments and have transformative and impactful projects that will benefit Batswana in the long term. Mogara said it will therefore, be effective for the massive initiative to be championed from the top office such as of the Vice President. He made a plea to the Vice President to take the journey with SEZA and help convince investors to come to Botswana.

For her part, Neo Mahube Director, Investor Facilitation said the parastatal could bring hope to Botswana’s Vision 2036 and unearth unexplored opportunities. Mahube said they engage with investors more especially for the unexploited and unexplored opportunities. Currently eight special economic zones have been identified around the country and the programme is targeting 3000 investors.

Mahube said the aim is push the country to be an export led economy hence the significance of bringing international investors to Botswana. She revealed that currently there is 120 promising investors who wish to come to Botswana out of which 60 qualified leads have been identified. She further said these are investors who can bring over P200 Million to Botswana in investment.

The Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) Executive Management yesterday paid a visit to His Honour the Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane at his office to update him on their performance. The visit was also to pave way for Honourable Tsogwane, the Champion of SEZA in his capacity as the Vice President.
