Vacancy- Unit Manager (Nurse Anaesthetist) Wanted At Debswana Diamond Company

To administer general and regional anesthesia to patients undergoing surgery and maintenance of nursing standards.

• Diploma in General Nursing and Diploma in Nurse Anesthetics
• 3 years post-qualification experience in a hospital environment
• Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana

• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets
• Conducts pre-operative medical examinations to select/exclude patients for anesthesia within laid down parameters
• Orders relevant pre-operative investigations e.g. Chest X-ray, blood investigations etc. and takes appropriate action
• Selects and performs general and or regional anesthetics for routine and emergency care
• Monitors patient condition and regulates the anesthetic throughout the surgical procedure
• Assesses patient’s condition post operatively to full recovery or detect post anesthetic complications and takes appropriate action
• Resuscitates new born babies if necessary
• Formulates reviews and monitors anesthetic policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance
• Conducts regular quality standards audits on anesthetic equipment, medical gases and drugs in theatre and recovery room and takes appropriate action
• Recommends the type of anesthetic equipment to be procured
• Records use of stock on charge sheets
• Coordinates and monitors the implementation of safety, health and environmental programs in area of responsibility taking cognizance of all legal requirements
• Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
• Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
• Establishes and maintains Business Partner relationships with all stakeholders to facilitate the optimal functioning of the functional area
