VACANCY CIRCULAR NUMBER 05 OF 2018 – INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development employees for the below mentioned position tenable in SOUTHERN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
POST : SENIOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
SALARY SCALE : D4 (P187, 716.00 – P207, 240.00 per annum)
LEAVE : 30 working days
QUALIFICATIONS : Diploma / Degree in Community Development or related fields
EXPERIENCE : At least six (6) years relevant work experience of which two (2) years must have been served as Community Development Officer I at C1 salary scale.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• Monitors and supervises the implementation of community development programs at area of operation.
DUTIES
• Coordinates the establishment and management of organisations.
• Guides beneficiaries in preparation of project proposals for financial assistance.
• Promotes self-reliance and community participation in community based activities.
• Attends to community issues of high profiles.
• Collaborates and networks with stakeholders in the implementation of community development programmes.
• Manages communities in the change power structures and local democracy, challenge inequalities and the promotion of social justice.
• Represents the Division/Council on various fora to address community development related matters.
• Evaluates income generating projects and programmes aimed at rehabilitation of clients in the area of operation.
• Supervises, guides and appraises supervisees in accordance with the set standards and objectives.
• Prepares and submits progress reports on community development projects and programmes periodically.
• Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.
