HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

Job Summary
Reporting to the Directors, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of efficient administrative support for the HR unit towards excellence in service delivery in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Performance Areas
Development of the HR Unit

Administers programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with strategic goals of the company.
Prepares and maintains reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the HR unit. Prepares periodic reports for Management as necessary or requested.
Participates in general staff meetings and other seminars as necessary to represent the unit.
Benefits Administration
Prepares enrollments, changes and terminations of employees in all benefit plans and programs.
Reconciles monthly billing statements supplied by vendors against payroll deductions.
Assist staff with any benefit claim issues or concerns.
Training & Development
Assist in conducting skills audits and analyze competency gaps to design employee training plan and success in planning programs.
Schedule participants into training sessions
Process training claims for reimbursement at HRDF within stipulated periods.
Staffing
Drafts job adverts and liaising with appropriate media for placement.
Sorts and reviews resumes as they arrive on daily basis. Provides first review of applications and maintain a filing system that retains qualified applications.
Schedules interviews and prepares necessary documentation for interviews.
Make sure that the workspace, uniform and other equipment are ready for new employees ‘commencement day.
Conducts new employee orientation.
Prepares paperwork required for new hires and establishes personal file with all necessary documentation.
Assists the organization with temporary staffing needs by liaising with the Department of Labor & Immigration.
Industrial Relations

Induct new employees on Sprint Couriers employee handbook.
Serves as a link between Management and employees by administering disciplinary/grievances and giving guidance and policies to resolve work related problems.
Interprets terms and conditions of employment and ensures that employees receive their contractual entitlements.
Assist in the facilitation of disciplinary hearing in compliance to company policies and regulations.
Compensation
Administer Worker’s Compensation claim accordingly.
Participate in at least one salary survey per financial year.
Organization Development
Participates in planning and implementing various employee relations and employee satisfaction initiatives.
Assists in implementing and managing the Wellness Programme and other Health Awareness Programme that facilitate the provision of responsive services in line with employee needs.
Executive Administration
Sorts out mail and faxes as intended for Directors.
Keeps diary of the Directors’ engagement.
To provide efficient secretarial and administration support to Directors ensuring courteous service delivery at all times.
Additional
Assumes other duties as assigned by company Directors.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Two (2) years ‘related work experience
Proficiency in computer applications
Effective oral and written communication skills
General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
Excellent interpersonal skills
Skills in record keeping
Strong planning and organizing skills

Qualifications

Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Management or any related field.
Valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
