Traditional music star Ditiro “DT” Leero was sentenced to six years in prison for rape in 2012. He was convicted on June 12th 2012 for a single count of rape, leaving a gap in the local traditional music genre. He is however also rumored to have been working on a solo project while in jail.
Leero was a member of the popular group Matsieng, and he left the group to embark on a solo career. Before he went to jail Leero had left the group because of some misunderstandings in 2008. He was later convicted of rape and during his stay behind bars; he did not sit on his talent. The disgraced star has been performing during the annual Prison Day commemorations.
Matsieng is said to re unite with their lead singer Ditiro to release a powerful album. Leero still remains a creative member of the group who commands deep vocabulary of the Setswana language. He remains the backbone behind the group since it proved to be difficult to penetrate the market again without him.
