“There is an intent to create an atmosphere of intimidation, fear and acrimony using the DISS” Kaboeamodimo
The blame game between former President His Excellency Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, and the Directorate on Intelligence and Security Services (DIS/DISS) goes on.
While the Directorate holds that they are doing their job, and nothing more or less, former President Khama still believes he is being harassed.
Two (2) days back the DIS released a statement assuring the nation that only the rule of law prevails on their operations. According to the spy agency, those suggesting that the former President is being harassed are just trying to shield Khama from being duly investigated.
The DIS noted that the former President is not immune to investigations, and as such they will carry on searching and investigating him, for the sake of national security.
On the contrary, former President Khama, opposition parties, and SKIK foundation have been constantly arguing that the DIS is harassing Khama.
Few hours back, the SKIK Foundation threw a jab at the DIS citing harassment and intimidation against the former President.
“We have noted with dismay the official propaganda and commentary issued by the DISS leadership through a distorted Press Release in which they deny harassing and persecuting His Excellency the former President Lt. Gen. Seretse Ian Khama, and in the process flouting the rule of law, and insinuating that he may be a threat to national security.
How is it not harassment when the DISS can be used to search and raid the former President in his absence, as they have done, without a search warrant? Is this not intrusion into the private life of the former President and therefore harassment?” wondered Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo, SKIK Foundation Chief Executive Officer (CEO). .
According to SKIK Foundation CEO, It is evident that the DIS is being used to desperately pursue behind the scenes orders to continue illegal raids on former President Khama including a search of his property in Shakawe where previously used search warrants which should cease to be valid continue to be used in perpetuity.
The Foundation is convinced that the defective narrative to portray the DIS as clean and law abiding is wobbly as in actual fact they are being used to act above the law.
