The Department of Meteorological Services through the Weather Forecasting Division wishes to inform the public that rains are forecast to occur during the period between the 25th (Monday) and 26th (Tuesday) July 2016 over the southern half of the country.
However isolated thundershowers are expected to occur over Southern District on Sunday evening. During the course of Monday the rains will intensify over Southern District and spread to South-East, Kgatleng and Kweneng districts where cloudy and cold conditions are also anticipated.
Windy conditions are also expected on Monday over the south eastern parts of the country. Cloudy and cold conditions are expected to accompany these rains throughout the period in question.
The anticipated rains will be triggered by a westerly trough which will start affecting the country on the 23rd and further strengthening and intensifying around the 25th and 26th and culminating into a “cut-off” low pressure system which will inevitably induce intense instability southern parts of the country.
Possible impacts of the rains might include damage to crops, livestock and create inconvenience to the public in their daily lives.
