The Premier League Suspends Perpetrators At The Rollers/Tafic Match
The Botswana Premier League has dealt with the main perpetrators of the ugly scenes that took place at league game between Township Rollers and TAFIC on Tuesday (23 January) evening at University of Botswana.
The premier league has informed stakeholders through a press release that it has suspended from all BFA activities until further notice four of the five red carded players and officials namely Township Rollers’ Joel Mogorosi, Mthokozisi Msomi, Samuel Phiri of TAFIC and his head coach Rapelang Tsatsilebe.
The release cites article 12.1 of the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Play Rules and Regulations (2017) which gives them the right to suspend pending investigation any palyer or official reported to have been involved in violent activities.
The incident in reference is one in which following being red carded, Samuel Phiri slapped Edwin Moalosi of Township Rollers, sparking a mass brawl that included the other accused lot throwing kicks and punches. The incident has attracted widespread condemnation, and the officials have moved swiftly to bring back sanity to the game.
Mogorosi and Msomi will miss the game between Jwaneng Galaxy.
