Some of the campaign activists who have been protesting in traffic lights were ealrier today, amongst them the president of the Botswana Congress Party women league’s President, Daisy Bathusi. They were held at Mogoditshane police station. The good news is that these women have been released and it’s business as usual.
The campaign activists are scheduled to continue their peaceful demonstrations this afternoon at different traffic lights across the country. This follows their release from police custody this morning after their lawyer Duma Boko urged them to return to the streets and fight for their cause. Duma Boko let them with a statement that should anything happen, they should call him immediately.
The tactics used to suppress and intimidate free speech will only work against the government. Soon international media will be all over this.
