THE FIRST LADY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BOTSWANA HER EXCELLENCY MRS NEO JANE MASISI HOSTS YOUTH DIALOGUE ON DRUG USE IN HONOUR OF FIRST LADY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ESTONIA HER EXCELLENCY MRS SIRJE KARIS

Speaking at the event Her Excellency Mrs Masisi explained that drug use among adolescents in Botswana is a concern that is no different worldwide. She expressed her appreciation to the first lady of Estonia for showing shared interest in issues pertaining to illicit drug use saying this shows that humanity is the same everywhere.

The panels discussion indicated that peer pressure and the desire to fit in are common reasons leading to the use of drugs in most communities.

In her address the First lady of Estonia praised the young people of Botswana for being brave in pursuit of the fight against drug use. She encouraged them to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle by finding creative ways to keep mentally sharp and to normalize talking about issues affecting them pertaining to mental health rather than resorting to the use of drugs.
