POST:

TEACHER AIDE IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

(Tenable in different Schools across the North West Region)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees for the above position in Ministry of Education & Skills Development tenable in the North West Region.

SALARY SCALE:

B3/2 (P59, 412 – P82, 836)

LEAVE:

20 Working days per annum

BENEFITS:

Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme with the Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BOPMAS – Government pays 80% and employee pays 20% for Standard Benefit . For a High Benefit the employer pays an equivalence of the employee’s entitlement under the Standard Benefit

Contributory Pension scheme (Government contributes 15% and employee contribute 5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certificate in Early Childhood and Development plus Junior Certificate, Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent N.B: Competence in one of the following languages will be an added advantage:

Thimbukushu

Sheyei

Otjiherero/Otjimbanderu

Sign Language

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist in providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment that would prepare pupils for formal learning and successive life development stages

DUTIES:

Reinforces instruction taught in the classroom to learners

Provide special support to learners with diverse needs

Observes learner activities and generates records

Initiates and engages learner fun based activities

Instills proper discipline to children

Supervises learners play

Monitors learners behavior

Supports learners who need assistance with self-help skills (feeding,toilet training and dressing)Maintain clean and safe classroom environment

Identifies and reports any peculiarities of children to the class teacher for appropriate intervention

Assists in development of teaching aids and educational kits for learners

Participates in fund raising activities to support the programme

Attends professional staff meetings, seminars and conferences

Benchmarks with other institutions for best practices

Undertakes research on job related issues
