When it comes to sports, the girl child is always left behind or somehow disadvantaged, but that is about to change. In partnership with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, the US Embassy will be hosting 2 soccer clinics in Maun and Gaborone.
This project will be done in collaboration with Joanna Lohman of the Washington Spirit professional women’s soccer team. A total of 30 girls from community soccer clubs will take part in the program. They will focus on building self-esteem and self-confidence while also expanding their soccer skills and understanding of the possibilities for women in sports.
