His Excellency Mr Joào Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the President of Angola who is also the chairperson of SADC says mobilisation of Financial resources aimed at expanding and improving roads infrastructure, particularly highways to interconnect SADC member states must be a point of focus to ensure successful trade among SADC countries.
He said this during his visit to SADC Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana. His Excellency Lourenço further urged the Secretariat to develop a plan for the construction of a robust infrastructure expansion to allow the interconnection among different countries in the region, adding that it will benefit the region.
In his welcome remarks His Excellency Mr Elias Magosi, Executive Secretary for SADC, appreciated the Chairperson’s visit to the Secretariat, citing that it provides an opportunity for them to benefit from his rich wisdom coupled with vast experience in dealing with matters of economic integration, politics, peace and security, and even technological advancements for the benefit of SADC citizens.
Mr Magosi emphasised their commitment to supporting the Chairperson in implementing the SADC theme. He however highlighted that they require extended efforts towards mobilising resources to support the implementation of the Regional Integration Agenda.
