Sad Note: The Nation Mourns The Death Of Tlokweng MP Same Bathobakae

The second woman Member of parliament in opposition, for Tlokweng constituency and current Botswana National Front Vice Chairperson, Same Makgowa Bathobakae has sadly passed away. Bathobakae passed away last night apparently from heart failure.

Bathobakae joined politics in 1999 after working as a conveyancing secretary in different law firms. She challenged for a parliamentary seat in the 2014 general elections and won becoming only the second woman to represent an opposition party in parliament.  She has always wanted to promote the rights of individuals, for example, seeing men and women in her community having access to access to and control of land.

Same is survived by one child, but was also a mother to many. This is a great loss to her family, her constituency and the nation at large. Funeral arrangements to he communicated in due course. May her family be comforted in this trying time.
