Ruth Thomas, a beauty advisor and clothing and textile graduate, has been crowned Miss Botswana 2025. The Masunga native claimed the prestigious title in a dazzling grand finale held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre last night. The event, marked by elegance and cultural celebration, brought together the nation’s pageant community in a stunning display of African regality.

Thomas was crowned after an impressive performance throughout the competition, with Selwana Motsemeng and Girly Kookilwe securing the first and second princess titles, respectively. The finalists captivated the audience and judges with their poise, intelligence, and confidence, making the decision a challenging one.

The defining moment of the night came during the final question round, where Thomas delivered an inspiring response that sealed her victory. When asked about the specific, measurable, and achievable goals she would set as Miss Botswana to drive positive change and how she would hold herself accountable, she emphasized that true beauty is rooted in intellect, values, and purpose. She spoke passionately about living a meaningful life guided by dignity and faith.

Her strong Christian beliefs were evident throughout her journey. A day before the pageant, she shared a heartfelt message on social media, writing, “I stand amazed in His presence, resting in the thought that I am a daughter of a King. Word of the day is: You are like a city on a hill that cannot be hid, and so let your light shine that men may see the good works of your hands and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Miss World Botswana 2024, Anicia Gaothusi, had the honour of crowning Thomas, passing on the title with grace and encouragement. Gaothusi, who is set to represent Botswana at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Telangana, India, from May 4-31, symbolically handed over the baton to her successor.

In the lead-up to the grand finale, guests were treated to a vibrant beauty expo featuring stalls by makeup artists and beauty brands, highlighting Botswana’s flourishing beauty industry. The pageant was not just a competition but a celebration of grace, culture, and empowerment, setting the stage for Thomas to embark on a transformative reign as Miss Botswana 2025.
