A task team of 11 members has been constituted to review the mandate and membership of the Rural Development Council (RDC). His Honour, the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana Mr Slumber Tsogwane, stated this when delivering remarks during the 162nd RDC meeting in Gaborone this morning.
The Vice President explained that the review was necessitated by the need to align the mandate and membership of the RDC with the current realities of the new direction of the Government. Hon Tsogwane further indicated that at the end of the review, the task team should at least inform on the relevance of the RDC given the changing nature of rural development in Botswana; and be able to share suggestions with regards to aspects of change on the RDC mandate and composition.
The next RDC meeting is scheduled for the 15 June 2023 to consider the 2022/2023 Drought and Household Food Security Vulnerability Assessment
