Renovations Completed at Jubilee Psychiatric Ward in Francistown

Renovations to the Jubilee Psychiatric Ward at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown have been completed at a cost of P143,000. The refurbishment, carried out by Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC), included external and internal painting, replacement of broken windows, plumbing repairs, and other enhancements aimed at improving the facility’s conditions.

Speaking at the handover ceremony today, Minister of Health Dr. Stephen Modise highlighted the significance of the renovations in restoring dignity for mental health patients. He emphasized that upgrading healthcare facilities is a critical step in ensuring that all citizens receive quality medical care.

Dr. Modise reaffirmed the government’s commitment to health as a fundamental human right, assuring that efforts would continue to guarantee access to essential healthcare services for all Batswana. The improvements at the psychiatric ward mark an important milestone in enhancing mental health care in Botswana, demonstrating a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors to uplift healthcare infrastructure.
