History and Literature in English along with other subjects that require essay writing as a skill are a daunting challenge for secondary students in Botswana. For the past decade the Western educators have recognized the value of learning collaboratively. They have recognized that students do not learn well when they are isolated receivers of knowledge. In writing too students must overcome isolation in order to learn how to write. Through a series of collaborative writing activities students will;

• Understand writing as a public, communal act rather than as a private, isolated one making student writers develop a sense of audience which is pivotal in making the examiner understand your direction and base of argument as a writer
• Be able to narrow down topics through analysis and understanding
• Perfect their articulation skills and elaborating techniques
• Learn how to cross check spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
• Through peer review,students will be able to learn from each other’s mistakes and strengths.

The workshop also targets students who wish to venture into social sciences courses in university through a series of career guidance talks from various social science professionals such as lawyers, political scientists, journalists and various other interesting career paths.

Admission is completely free but it is vital that you book your seat.
