RADP Beauty Pageant CONTESTANTS URGED To Be Good Ambassodors Of Their Villages

Her Excellency, the First lady of the Republic of Botswana Mrs. Neo Jane Masisi has vowed to be the patron of the MR and MISS Remote Area Development Programme Beauty Pageant and further urged the Pageant’s 2022 Season contestants to promote and represent their villages well.

Speaking during a courtesy call by MR and MISS RADP finalists in Gaborone today, The First Lady said the contestant should strive to be ambassadors in their villages and that they should work with leaders in their villages to help the Government in sustainable development.

First Lady commended the Ministry of Local Government for the Mr. and Miss RADP beauty pageant initiative, saying that it is an important initiative that helps residents in remote areas to show their talent and culture. She further said the pageant facilitates the development of talent and empowerment of the youth. She added that the initiative is beneficial to the youth, especially girls, as they get more exposed and challenged in the society.

The First Lady also said that the programme is in line with vision 2036 aspiration of prosperity for all and leaving no one behind. She concluded by encouraging the contestants to carry themselves well and portray a good behavior and further urged them to speak against Gender based violence.

For her part the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Honourable Talita Monnakgotla explained that the programme gives the youth the opportunity to shine and to showcase their culture.
