Quavo Wants to Unify ‘All Races’ With a New National Anthem

Earlier this month, a petition was created in hopes of convincing Quavo to remake the National Anthem. Several thousand signatures and a hilarious spoof later, on Wednesday (Aug. 23), TMZ approached Quavo to get his take on the weighty idea of revising the 203 year-old “Star Spangled Banner.”

“There’s a lot going behind the national anthem,” Quavo told TMZ. “I would love to do it, but I wanna do a 2017 national anthem for both people and all races. Something that’s representing now. Something that representing the modern day national anthem.”

In order for the track to come into fruition, Quavo would need several key ingredients. First, he would need to round up “some good musicians.” Then, he would have to put his pen to the test and “write something very strong and powerful.”

The petition created on Change.org has a whopping 7,700 signatures and at this point is 2,300 short of its goal of 10,000. “It’s the current year, 2017, and I think the nation should get with the times and feature Quavo on the National Anthem. He’s a feature on everything else, so why not,” wrote Sean Gray, the petition’s creator. Though Quavo has several projects tucked away including his joint album with Travis Scott, time will only tell if the Migos front-man decides to tackle this monstrous task.
