In response, Ms Emmah Peloetletse stated that it was important to pay Kgosi a visit before addressing the public service employees in Maun in honour of her leadership in the district. Delivering her remarks after the tour, Ms Peloetletse said that the Ministry of Education and Skills Development has developed an Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan (ETSSP) that intended to strengthen the match between qualifications and labour market requirements, thereby ensuring that education outputs are more closely aligned to future employment needs.
The education sector has now been transformed to an Outcome-based Education (OBE) programme hence the visit to Maun Senior Secondary School by PSP, to tour a multi-million Pula hospitality and tourism facility that currently has 245 learners. Out of this number 122 are form 5 students who will be the first batch of graduates of this programme.
Ms Peloetletse stated that there are two (2) schools identified as pilots of the OBE programme with Maun Senior Secondary School specializing in Hospitality and Tourism and the other being Moeng College which will be piloted for Agriculture.
Ms Peloetletse expressed delight that as Botswana strives to being a knowledge-based economy, the Country can export labour to other countries. She stressed the importance of the school to interface with the private sector as this can help Botswana realize its dream of being a knowledge based economy.
