President Duma Boko of Botswana has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to attend the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF), which officially opened today. The President, accompanied by an entourage of senior government officials, including Trade Minister Tiroyaone Ntsima, flew out of Botswana yesterday to join other global leaders at this prestigious event.
This year’s theme, “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” underscores the importance of partnerships and shared efforts in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The forum will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and experts to discuss critical issues such as economic growth, climate change, and human capital development.
For President Boko, the forum presents a key opportunity to advocate for Africa’s growth on the global stage. He will take part in discussions surrounding the African economy, with particular focus on governance and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a landmark agreement aimed at boosting intra-African trade and fostering economic cooperation across the continent.
During the event, President Boko is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with influential global leaders to strengthen Botswana’s international ties and explore new avenues for collaboration. This marks another significant step in Botswana’s efforts to position itself as a key player in the global economic landscape.
The discussions at the WEF will shape the direction of global economic policies, and President Boko’s participation signals Botswana’s commitment to being an active voice in shaping these outcomes, particularly in the context of Africa’s ongoing development.
