Police College Commemorates International Women’s Day

The Deputy Director of Training (Academics), Assistant Commissioner Dipontsho Pharithi has said Botswana Police Service (BPS) continues to recognise and empower women police officers in various fields of policing.
Assistant Commissioner Pharithi pointed out that women police officers of today hold leadership positions in the organisation and have delivered effectively on assignments like peace keeping missions. She said BPS has over the years increased female intake with each recruitment.

She called on women police officers to work hard and be determined to participate in any task considered to be challenging.
She urged male police officers to celebrate Women’s Day to show their unwavering support to their female colleagues.

When giving a vote of thanks, Senior Superintendent Boitshwarelo Ramahobo said BPS found the day worth celebrating as a way of recognising and appreciating women police officers’ immense contribution in policing. She encouraged the attendants to make a difference where gender equality is concerned. Ms Ramahobo added that commemorating the International Women’s Day shows progress in the attainance of gender equality.
The event was held under the theme “Breaking the Bias”
