The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB), a statutory body mandated to provide the safe, regular, secure and efficient use and development of Civil Aviation in Botswana seeks to recruit a highly motivated individual to fill the below mentioned vacancy that exist in the Authority. Vacancy No. 31 of 2016.
Main Purpose of the Job.
To install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing systems for water distribution and waste water disposal at the Airport facilities and plants and buildings. Provision of adequate services will ensure that all water supply networks, waste and drainage systems at the Airport are installed, repaired and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and safety standards and procedures.
Requirements
Education
National Craft Certificate plus relevant experience in installing, repairing and maintenance of plumbing systems in commercial, institutional and public buildings.
Professional/Technical
Ability to read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply network and waste and drainage systems.
Experience
5 years relevant plumbing experience including planning, installation, and servicing plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and control in commercial, institutional or public buildings. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications as well of knowledge of relevant legislation and national plumbing standards to be followed is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities
Installs, repairs and maintains plumbing systems and components for the Airport buildings and facilities
Reviews blueprints, drawings, building plans and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
Identifies required tools, special equipment and type and size of pipes and other plumbing materials for various plumbing works to be attended to
Locates and marks positions for connections and fixtures in accordance with relevant procedures and standards of works
Installs supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures and equipment and installs valves and fittings in accordance with approved standards
Installs, repairs and maintains the water treatment equipment, piping and controls, sanitary and waste water piping systems, underground storm sanitary and water piping systems, sinks, tubs and toilets and other plumbing fixtures and appliances
Conducts regular tests to check pipe system and fixtures leaks
Performs scheduled / preventive maintenance service on all plumbing systems and fixtures as planned and liaises with operations and other relevant departments / units to ensure minimum disruption of services and reliable systems availability at all times
Responds to faults as and when called to do so and reduce downtime and ensure service availability within a short space of time
Ensures all installations, repairs and maintenance are coded in line with relevant legislation and standard procedures
Ensures all plumbing systems and fixtures requirements as specified by manufacturer are met to enhance systems performance
Ensures that all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded and meet the requirements of appropriate standards
Ensures that all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
Administers the schedule of plumbing works and keeps daily reports of works completed
Assists with the preparation of the annual budget for plumbing works
Liaises with other relevant trades, departments and units to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies and procedures are met and to ensure efficient completion of projects
Participates in the preparation of work specifications for tenders and may monitor contractors’ activities as assigned to ensure that all plumbing works comply with relevant specifications and standards
Submits monthly Reports on the plumbing systems conditions and progress of work done to facilitate management decision making.
