Oscar Pistorius’s family said they were “surprised” by his early release but they are happy that he is back home, according to their spokeswoman Anneliese Burgess.Burgess briefly addressed the media outside the home of the Paralympian’s uncle, Arnold Pistorius, on Tuesday.
“Oscar was released into correctional supervision last night. We were informed that the details of any release are decided on by the facility concerned and that’s why he was released a few hours earlier.
“It is very important for the family to emphasise that his sentence has not been reduced. He will adhere to the conditions set by the parole board and community corrections,” said Burgess.
Pistorius will remain in his uncle’s house in Waterkloof for the remainder of his sentence.
