Oscar Molefe Crowned Winner of Schweppes Born Social Mixology Competition at Spectacular Finale

In a night filled with glamour, creativity, and fierce competition, Mogomotsi “Oskido” Oscar Molefe was crowned the winner of the Schweppes Born Social Mixology Competition 2024. Held at the stylish Park 27 Restaurant in Gaborone, the grand finale capped off an exhilarating journey that spanned four cities over nine days, with qualifying rounds in Francistown, Palapye, Maun, and Gaborone.

A Celebration of Talent and Craftsmanship

The final showdown brought together the top mixologists from each qualifying leg:

Oscar Molefe (Maun leg winner),

Oteng Ronald (Francistown leg winner),

Thuso Tlhaselo (Gaborone leg winner), and

Gontekanye Moelenyane (Palapye leg winner).

The contestants competed in four grueling rounds, demonstrating their creativity, skill, and mastery of the art of mixology. The judges, a star-studded panel including Samantha Mogwe, BK Proctor, Game “Zeus” Bantsi, and Tumi Ramsden, were tasked with evaluating their creations.

A Night of Elegance and Entertainment

Hosted by the charismatic Tshepo Sekgororoane, the event was a perfect blend of elegance and entertainment. Fashion brand Glotto, led by Creative Director Mboko Basiami, showcased vibrant designs inspired by Schweppes’ iconic flavors, adding a splash of color to the evening.

The entertainment lineup featured show-stopping performances, including a duet of the song “Transition” by Samantha Mogwe and Zeus, as well as sets by top DJs DJ KRM, DJ Dizzy Dee, DJ Deelow, and Chief Rocker, keeping the energy high throughout the night.

Victorious Moments

Oscar Molefe, representing Maun, clinched the top prize, walking away with a P25,000 cash prize, along with:

•A mixology course in South Africa,

•A customized bar counter,

•A golden cocktail set,

•Schweppes stock and hampers.

Runner-up Oteng Ronald from Francistown received P20,000, while third-place winner Thuso Tlhaselo from Gaborone took home P15,000. Gontekanye Moelenyane from Palapye secured a P5,000 consolation prize and a P2,500 voucher for BK Proctor apparel, announced by the judge himself.

In his remarks, David Chait, General Manager of Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana (CCBB), emphasized the importance of the competition in elevating the Schweppes brand. He highlighted the premium quality of Schweppes as Botswana’s preferred mixer and the company’s commitment to creating memorable consumer experiences.
