Overview
The DBGSS Diamond Academy, located in Gaborone, is the training centre for De Beers Global Sightholder Sales. Its core functions include training new staff members and providing secondary training for experienced diamond staff. The skills profile of De Beers is a vital component of the DBGSS mission, and the existing skills need constant enhancement in order to enable the Company to carry the business proposition forward.
Details
Learners will be declared competent after the successful completion of the instructional learning phase, the workplace learning phase and the final submission of a Portfolio of Evidence (POE). This 6-month Learnership Programme is aimed at skills development and as such, permanent employment with De Beers will not be the intention upon completion of the course. However, Learners will be welcome to apply for any future roles advertised.
Requirements
The Learnership programme requires candidates with good listening, oral and written communication skills as well as good analytical, observation and problem solving skills. Learners should be detail conscious and routine orientated with unquestionable integrity and honesty, and be prepared to operate in a strictly controlled security environment. MS Office skills would be an added advantage.

The DBGSS Diamond Academy consists of a team of international Instructors, able to offer training in both rough and polished diamond grading, aspects of Health and Safety and the training of assessors. All Instructors have extensive knowledge of the diamond industry and the role played by De Beers therein. Their knowledge and skills enables them to offer maximum value to our global Academy partners in Botswana, South Africa and Namibia.
