Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Department of Broadcasting Services:

SALARY SCALE: D3 (P222,348 – P245,472) per annum

LEAVE: 30 working days per annum

BENEFITS: i) Optional contributory medical aid scheme with the
Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme
(BPOMAS), (Government pays 50% and the
employee 50%).
ii) Contributory Pension Fund (Government contributes 15% and Employee 5%).

QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety; Engineering; or any other filed deemed equivalent, plus eight (8) years experience in related field.

EXPERIENCE

Eight (8) years work experience performing Occupational Health and Safety related duties.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage the examination and testing of plant and machinery, inspection of workplaces, and hygiene sampling.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Conducts inspections to ensure that there is compliance with the factories Act.
• Conducts incidental spot checks on health, safety and welfare standards in factories.
• Advises employers/employees on safe work practices, safety standards and regulations.
• Conducts health and safety audits to ensure compliance with set standards.
• Enforces health and safety laws and regulations.
• Complies monthly reports in the status of occupational health and safety matters.
• Conducts health and safety education to user organisations by giving talks/presentation on health and safety related issues.
• Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.
