Members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi have gathered in Palapye for a four-day capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing their legislative and leadership skills. The workshop, which commenced today, was officially opened by Acting President Mr. Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe.
In his welcome remarks, the Chairperson of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Malope II, emphasized the legislative house’s commitment to maintaining a constructive and collaborative relationship with the government. He reaffirmed Ntlo ya Dikgosi’s role in providing valuable feedback to the government on the aspirations and needs of the communities they represent while remaining apolitical in their approach.
“As Ntlo ya Dikgosi, we are tasked with leading our communities with integrity and ensuring we reflect their hopes and needs. It is essential that we stay apolitical and maintain focus on our duties,” said Kgosi Malope.
The workshop will focus on equipping members with critical skills, including crafting questions and motions, emotional intelligence, protocol, and etiquette. These areas are seen as essential for improving the legislative house’s effectiveness and professionalism in carrying out its mandate.
In addition to the training sessions, the members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi will tour various government projects in Palapye that are designed to improve the lives of Batswana. These projects include the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), the Citrus Projects, and Morupule, which play vital roles in education, agriculture, and energy development respectively.
The workshop is expected to strengthen Ntlo ya Dikgosi’s ability to provide informed feedback to the government while ensuring that their leadership aligns with the developmental goals of the communities they serve. By the end of the four days, participants will have gained valuable insights and practical skills to enhance their legislative and leadership roles.
