Nicki Minaj, Trina Coming After Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim In Upcoming Collab?
Looks like Nicki Minaj’s upcoming album is shaping up to be an explosive one. After releasing several hit collabs such as “No Frauds,” “Run Up” and “Motor Sport,” Queen Barbz has a new one in store for her fans, and this could be her response track to Remy Ma and Lil’ Kim’s “Wake Me Up.”
On Wednesday, rapper Trina appeared on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” and among the many things she discussed was her collab with Minaj. The “Here We Go” hitmaker is keeping mum on what the song is going to be about, but she did confirm that she and Minaj “worked” together for the latter’s upcoming album.
Trina didn’t spill the beans when it comes to her track with Minaj, but she did say that she was blown away after hearing a new upcoming song from the Young Money artist. “I heard a record that she played for me that’s just crazy … It’s just a crazy record …,” she said. “I haven’t heard the album but I heard a record for the album and one record she did … umm yeah … it was Nicki.”
Trina went on to say that the moment she heard this track, she knew it’s bound to become big in the music scene. “It’s one of the records that you just get lost into that like, ‘Oh! It’s just going to be a huge record I already knew it from the gate.’ … You ain’t gonna struggle, you gonna figure it out from the gate that ‘Woah! This is gonna be a big one right here,’” she shared.
The “A Miami Tail” star didn’t mention if the track she’s raving about would be the one that she’d be featured in. Interestingly, fans are already speculating that the collab the two female rappers worked on could be a response or a diss track to Remy Ma and Lil’ Kim after the latter ganged up on Minaj with their song “Wake Me Up.”
While Lil’ Kim has since claimed that her collab with the “Love & Hip Hop: New York” star wasn’t really about Minaj, Complex pointed out that the second verse of the song is clearly a direct shot at the “Anaconda” singer. Plus, there are hints in the music video that Remy Ma is definitely targeting Minaj.
Meanwhile, Minaj has been teasing non-stop about her fourth album. When she attended this year’s New York Fashion Week, she talked to some fans and told them that her next album will certainly meet expectations. In June, she also said that her fourth studio album would be a “classic hip hop album that people will never forget.”
“I know it’s going to be my best body of work and I always love to be in real time, see my fans reacting to something. That’s what I’m looking forward to now. Obviously, I’m not telling them when my album is coming out, but I know that it’s gonna be amazing because I want to thank the people who’ve rocked with me for all of these years,” Minaj was quoted as saying by XXL Mag at the time.
