The public is informed of the increase in public transport fares with
effect from midnight Friday 20 May 2022. This decision was made by
Government after consultation with relevant stakeholders within and
outside of Government.
After carefully considering variables such as impact on inflation, fuel
prices, the interests of the commuters, transport operators and the
economy at large the Government adjusted transport fares upward by
15%.
The Government is committed to ensuring that adjustment of fares
remain sustainable in that they are affordable to commuters, do not
impose undue inflationary pressure on the economy and transport
operators get a fair return on their investments. The revised fees are as
follows and will only come into effect after publishing in the Government
Gazette.
