New National TV Channel To Broadcast Youth And Entertainment Oriented Programmes

The Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture will in the near future launch the second Botswana Television (BTV) channel, which will primarily broadcast entertainment and youth oriented programmes.

The revelation was made by Youth Sport and Culture Minister Thapelo Olopeng recently, who said the development will go a long way in creating the much needed employment opportunities for youth in the country.

Olopeng said the envisaged TV channel is expected to further promote the local creative arts industry, calling on the relevant authorities to desist from buying international content and ignoring local production.

Olopeng said the initiative is also part of government’s effort to give local TV experts more exposure.
