This morning, the National Planning Commission (NPC) launched a series of Minister’s District Consultation Workshops, aimed at fostering open dialogue between the Ministry for State President, district councils, and Botswana’s Village Development Committees (VDCs). The consultations are a crucial step in preparing the Second Transitional National Development Plan (NDP12), which will guide Botswana’s future development priorities.

Delivering the keynote address, Minister for State President, Hon. Moeti Mohwasa, emphasized that NDP12 is designed to realign the new government’s priorities with the aspirations of Batswana. He stressed the need for Botswana to plan towards advanced and sustainable long-term strategies that will dignify and uplift communities across the nation.

“Our focus must be on shaping a future that is economically sustainable and beneficial to all Batswana. This requires strategic planning and commitment at every level of leadership,” Mohwasa said.

He further urged district leaders to establish strong partnerships among themselves to ensure collective success in building a thriving and economically developed Botswana.

The NDP12 consultation workshops mark a significant effort in inclusive policymaking, ensuring that development strategies reflect the needs and expectations of communities across the country.
