Mzansi Magic’s hit series Housekeepers returns for a third season
After two successful and acclaimed seasons, Mzansi Magic’s undercover thriller drama Housekeepers is back with what promises to be another nail-biting season, premiering on 4 April.
Starring Thando Thabethe, who reprises her role as Linda, and Paballo Koza as her brother Mtho, the series follows an agent solving criminal cases – while undercover as the house help. And while Linda has massive crime to uncover in season 3, her biggest fight is her desperate attempt to save Mtho’s life.
In varsity and adjusting to his and his sister’s new financially secure reality, Mtho is accused of a shocking crime. Can Linda prove his innocence while keeping her true identity hidden from her dangerous new employers?
The Housekeepers season 3 cast includes Gabriel Simphiwe Mini (Zabalaza), Ernest Ndlovu (Gomora, Isibaya), Andile Mxakaza (Isibaya), Noxolo Dlamini (Isibaya), Fezile Makhanya (Rockville, Unmarried, The Queen), and TV presenting legend Zandi Nhlapho.
“We’re happy to keep giving viewers shows they love, and Housekeepers is one of the series that has kept our audience enthralled since its premiere. It’s a very South African twist on the classic detective show, and it’s so much more than a crime series. It’s relevant and features social commentary and a lot of heart, while still being entertaining. The show is as multifaceted and as intelligent as our audience,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
Throughout season’s 13 new episodes, we watch Linda in the middle of a balancing act – it’s the detective versus the sister. Having made a promise to their mother to keep Mtho safe, Linda is wracked with guilt and, since she couldn’t save June, she wants to save her brother by any means necessary. This leads her down increasingly morally ambiguous paths. After all, what would you do to save your loved ones given the chance?
The series is produced by the multi-award-winning Ochre Moving Pictures, and the season 3 supporting cast includes Kenneth Nkosi (Reyka, Rockville), Connie Chiume (Gomora, Black Panther) and Chichi Letswalo (Lingashoni, Isithembiso).
In the world of Housekeepers, the cleanup never ends. Tune in from Monday 4 April at 20:00 PM on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
