MYSC Honors Africa Tourism Leadership Forum And Awards 2022

Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary -Policy, Development and Research, Mr Moreetsi Bogosi has explained that culture is a fundamental part of the tourism experience globally, and its importance is growing. He mentioned that cultural tourism is one of the largest and fastest developing global tourism markets: an estimated four out of ten tourists choose their destination based on its cultural offering.

Mr Bogosi was speaking at the African Tourism Partners in collaboration with Botswana Government through Botswana Tourism Organization held at the GICC yesterday. The 5th edition of Africa Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards, the carnival event assembled the finest of Africa’s most thought after tourism giant leaders. The forum was held under the theme, “Igniting Intra-Africa Tourism through Inclusive Intra-Africa Trade, Partnerships and Investment.”

Mr Bogosi stressed that the convergence between tourism and culture, and the increasing interest of visitors in cultural experiences, bring unique opportunities to the tourism sector. He explained that the benefits of closer links between culture and tourism go beyond the economic returns: travelling to experience the culture of others also means gaining a direct because appreciation of cultural diversity, establishing new cultural ties, and helping to keep our cultural heritage alive.

He indicated that Mysc, is always excited when the country hosts nations for conferences such as the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum as it gives an opportunity to shine the rich culture through music and dance, food and traditional drinks.

The Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF) is a Pan-African dialogue platform bringing together key stakeholders of Africa’s travel, tourism, hospitality and aviation sectors to network, share insights, and devise strategies for intra Africa travel and tourism growth across the continent, whilst enhancing the brand equity of “Destination Africa’’.
