The founder and Director of MRS Botswana beauty pageant, Kgalalelo Lesetedi says they are still hoping to get financial support from Batswana to enable the queen realise her dream of participating at the international finale next year.

The 2020 MRS Botswana Queen, Tsaone Bakwena will represent the country at the Mrs International Global pageant to be held in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia in January 2023, and is looking for sponsors for her wardrobe and affiliation fee of about P30 000.

As such Lesetedi appealed to fashion designers to support the queen with attires, adding that dressing the queen was an opportunity for people to appreciate sponsors’ creations.

The director said any form of support was welcome to enable the queen to compete in the pageant purposed to encourage married women to unleash their potential and talents in pageantry.

She said the brand also promoted happy marriages, child protection and welfare as well as to sensitise about GBV issues.

More than 30 women from other counties across the world will be eyeing the crown, and the pageant is expected to last for a period of five days with different activities such as Project presentations, Talent performance, Cultural night, catwalk training and photo-shoots amongst others.

The pageant celebrates women’s rights, encourages them to be brave, and it also discourages social ills such as GBV and bullying.

Bakwena, who will on January 7 join other contestants, said her preparations for the finale included physical fitness, talent choreography, cat walk training project preparations and wardrobe planning.

The queen explained that her project was about the empowerment of a girl-child, geared to raise awareness on social ills affecting a girl-child and women.

She added that the project also yearned to encourage self-empowerment among females as they grow up.

She noted that some of the social ills that a girl-child battled with were caused by lack of self-empowerment means, as such they were forced to solicit it from elsewhere and in the long run some ended up being abused.

Bakwena’s grand finale gown was designed by Xplosion Designs.

The orange gown was said to represent the shades of the sunset at a desert.

Bakwena is not a newbie in the world of beauty pageant, having in 2009 competed in the Miss Botswana pageant in 2009 and made it to the top 12 finalist .

In 2020 she tried her luck at the MRS Botswana pageant and won. ENDS
