Missing Botswana Teacher Found Safe in South Africa
The Botswana Police Service (BPS) has confirmed that Dennis Motsie, a 26-year-old teacher from Malaka Primary School, who went missing on September 19, 2024, has been found in Marabastad, South Africa, in good health.
The successful operation to locate Motsie was a collaborative effort between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and members of the South African community. After being positively identified by his family at the Tokweng Border Post on the morning of November 16, 2024, Motsie was repatriated to Botswana the same day.
Timeline of Events
• 19 September 2024: Dennis Motsie was last seen, prompting his family and authorities to initiate a search.
• 16 November 2024: Motsie was located in Marabastad, South Africa, and positively identified by his family.
Upon his return, he was received by some of his family members and personnel from the Botswana Police Service.
