The Ministry of Health in Botswana has announced plans to recruit and hire 90 additional pharmacists under formal and permanent contracts. This was revealed by Assistant Minister of Health, Mr. Sethomo Lelatisitswe, who stated that the move is aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical services across the country.
The recruitment drive comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address shortages in the health sector and improve access to essential medicines. Assistant Minister Lelatisitswe emphasized that the addition of pharmacists will enhance service delivery in public health facilities, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient pharmaceutical care.
The new recruits will be deployed across various healthcare institutions, including district hospitals, clinics, and primary healthcare centers. Their primary responsibilities will include dispensing medications, providing expert guidance on drug use, and ensuring the proper management of medical supplies.
The Ministry of Health has been working to expand human resources in the healthcare sector to meet the growing demand for quality medical services. The recruitment of pharmacists aligns with broader reforms aimed at strengthening Botswana’s healthcare system and improving patient outcomes.
More details on the recruitment process, including application requirements and timelines, are expected to be released soon.
