1. DEPARTMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
POST: Director – Occupational Health & Safety. Contract position -1 Post
SALARY SCALE: E1 – (P409, 008 – P425, 556) per annum.
LEAVE: 30 Working Days per annum.
BENEFITS:
• Optional Medical Aid Scheme (Government contributes 50% and Employee 50%). A contract of 24 -36 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 30% upon the expiry of the contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must have a Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or relevant field.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 16 years work experience in Occupational Health and Safety related duties of which one (1) year should have been at senior management level in Government or equivalent level at a Parastatal / Private Sector.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To direct the coordination and implementation of the health, safety and welfare of workers in accordance with the relevant laws as well as monitor adherence to the set health and safety standards.

• Issues certificate of registration of factories to applicants
Payment of Suppliers
• Monitors payment of suppliers.
Supervision and Administration
• Coordinated activities of the department
• Monitors work performance of staff in the department.
Monitoring and Implementation
• Monitors implementation of set Public Service Standards.
• Gives advice on the review of legislation concerning health, safety and welfare in the workplace.
• Consults with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the factories Act.
• Holds staff meetings to discuss general staff matters, operational matters and management issues.
• Controls quality of products and services provided by the Department.
• Authorises qualified applicants to inspect plant and machinery.
Budget Control
• Prepares departmental requests to the Ministry for consolidation into the Ministry’s budget.
• Monitors payment of suppliers, application and retirements of imprest as well as private telephone bill payments for department.
• Mentors and coaches staff on work related topics.
• Develops staff competencies though, delegating and sharing information and ideas.
• Develops staff capabilities through delegation of work and responsibilities.
• Undertakes a skills gap analysis and recommends necessary training.

QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must have a Diploma/Degree in Guidance and Counseling.
EXPERIENCE: Direct entry. Two (2) years relevant work experience will be added advantage.

3. DRIVERS II – 19 Posts tenable at; Gaborone X 9, Serowe X 2, Ramotswa X 2, Molepolole X 1, Gabane X 1, Mahalapye X 1, Jwaneng X 1, Senyawe X 1 & Shakawe X 1
SALARY SCALE: B4 – (P35, 484 – P42, 192) per annum
LEAVE: 20 Working Days per annum.
BENEFITS:
• Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government contributes 50% and Employee 50%).
• Contributory Pension Fund (Employee contributes 5% and Government 15%)
QUALIFICATIONS
Direct entry to this grade requires a minimum of Primary School Leaving Certificate and candidates must be in possession of Botswana licenses class “B” “C” and “PrDP “P” (buses 31 – 100 seats) respectively) with a minimum of two year proven driving experience.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To drive and undertakes routine checks on vehicles
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Drives heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 3500 kg maximum weight (for non articulated vehicles) up to 16000kg maximum weight including trailer;
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance, which includes removal and fitment of types, washing of vehicles and ensuring that tyres are inflated to the correct pressure;
• Performs pre-trip inspection and ensures that the vehicle they are assigned is road-worthy;
• Cleans vehicle-parking areas; and
• Ensures the proper loading of authorized loads, the security and safety of loads being carried and the safe unloading of their vehicle at destinations.
4. DRIVERS III – 2 Posts tenable at; Gaborone X 1, Selibe Phikwe X 1.
SALARY SCALE: B5 – (P29, 628 – P35, 256) per annum
LEAVE: 20 Working Days per annum.
BENEFITS:
• Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government contributes 50% and Employee 50%).
• Contributory Pension Fund (Employee contributes 5% and Government 15%)
QUALIFICATIONS
Direct entry to this grade requires a minimum of Primary School Leaving Certificate. The candidate should be able to read and write both Setswana and English languages, and should be in possession of class “B” Botswana driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE
One year proven driving experience.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To drive and undertakes routine checks on vehicles.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Operates light motor vehicles up to 3500 kg maximum weight including trailer (750kg) and any other permitted by the license;
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance, which includes removal and fitment of types, washing of vehicles and ensuring that tyres are inflated to the correct pressure;
• Performs pre-trip inspection and ensures that the vehicle they are assigned is road-worthy;
• Cleans vehicle-parking areas; and
• Ensures the proper loading of authorized loads, the security and safety of loads being carried and the safe unloading of their vehicle at destinations.
