Ministerial Budget for Financial year 2021/2022

With a declineofP714.74 million over 2020/2021 budget, this financial year’s budget is standing atP50.66 billion, below is how it will be allocated among Ministries and Departments;

Ministry of Basic Education has been allocated the largest share of 18.8 percent of the proposed ministerial recurrent budget amounting to P9.52 billion. The amount represents a growth of P510.84 million or 5.7 percent over the current year’s approved budget. The growth mainly comprises the budgetary provision for creation of a total of 1,751 positions of teachers to align with COVID-19 protocols in terms of reducing class size and social distancing in schools across the country

The Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security recorded a decline of P172.81 million or -2.0 percent over the 2020/2021 approved budget, getting away with P8.39 billion, or 16.6 percent for 2021/2022 budget.

To support the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of HealthandWellness has received a cash injection of P165.32 million or 2.1 percent over the 2020/2021 approved budget, taking the total amount for 2021/2022 to P7.90 billion.

The proposed budget for Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is P7.14 billion, reflecting a 14.1 percent of the proposed budget- also recording a decline of P12.34 million, or -0.2 percent, over the 2020/2021 approved budget.

The Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science & Technology’s has been allocated P4.60 billion. This represents the fifth largest share or 9.1 percent of the proposed budget.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has been allocated a budget of P1.82 billion.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration has been given a proposed amount of P1.58 billion.

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has been given P1.39 billion, the amount is aimed at achieving food production and self-sufficiency.
