The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Hon. Tumiso Rakgare yesterday toured the Tonota Sport Complex to check progress after delays caused by one of the contractors who dumped the project mid-way.
After a briefing led by the Council officials, Hon. Rakgare said he was happy with the progress. He was further impressed that a young woman contractor from Tonota had taken over the building of the executive change rooms and the kiosk block. The contractor, Ms Majoo assured the Minister that she was on time and she hoped to be done before the set deadline.
The Sport Complex is one of the 10 mini stadia aimed at improving sport development in various Constituencies in Botswana. The facilities will also be earmarked to augment the Sport facilities especially for training should Botswana and Namibia win the joint bid to host the AFCON 2027 Finals.
The Minister and Assistant Minister, Hon. Honest Buti Billy have pledged to visit the other Sport Complex facilities to check their progress and hope to have done so before the end of 2022.
