Minister of Higher Education Engages with BQA Staff in Gaborone

This morning, the Minister of Higher Education, Honourable Prince Maele, accompanied by the Assistant Minister, Honourable Justin Hunyepa, paid a visit to the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) staff in Gaborone. The engagement aimed to foster stronger collaboration between the Ministry and the Authority while addressing key aspects of service delivery.

In his address, Honourable Maele highlighted that the primary purpose of the visit was to meet and greet the team, gain insight into their achievements, and understand the challenges they face. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting BQA in ensuring a high-quality education and training system in Botswana.

The Minister acknowledged the critical role BQA plays in regulating and maintaining educational standards and encouraged both management and staff to work together in revitalizing and maintaining the Authority’s positive image. “It is through teamwork and commitment that we can strengthen BQA’s reputation and enhance service delivery for our clients,” he stated.

During the visit, BQA officials had the opportunity to share their accomplishments, concerns, and future plans aimed at improving their efficiency in monitoring and accrediting educational institutions. Key discussions centered on streamlining processes, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and adopting innovative solutions to improve service delivery.

Honourable Hunyepa echoed the Minister’s sentiments, urging staff to remain dedicated to their mandate and proactively address challenges that may hinder the Authority’s progress. He reassured them of the Ministry’s unwavering support in their efforts to uphold high educational standards.

The visit served as an important step in fostering collaboration and accountability between the government and BQA.
