Minister Morwaeng Presents Draft Bill for Political Party Funding
This afternoon, the Minister for State President, Hon. Kabo Neale Sechele Morwaeng, presented a Draft Bill for Political Party Funding at the All Party Conference held at Hotel 430 in Gaborone. The conference, marking its third iteration this year, was dedicated solely to discussing the draft bill.
In his presentation, Hon. Morwaeng emphasized the Botswana government’s commitment to inclusivity and consultation. He recalled that during the previous All Party Conference in July 2024, it was agreed that the draft bill would be shared with all political stakeholders for their input. This process aims to gather diverse views, comments, and suggestions, ensuring that the bill reflects the collective interests of the parties involved and fosters a sense of ownership among stakeholders.
Morwaeng further announced that parties would have the opportunity to conduct additional consultations after the meeting, allowing for a more thorough review and incorporation of feedback. This approach underscores the government’s dedication to transparent and collaborative policymaking.
The All Party Conference provided a platform for open dialogue on the draft bill, highlighting the importance of stakeholder engagement in shaping the future of political party funding in Botswana.
