“Maybe Next Year I Should Just Quit Music And Venture Into Farming.” La Timmy

Like many local artists around here La Timmy feels that he is being taken for a ride by promoters as compared to artist across boarder who are booked to perform here. “Bookings are mainly on outside Artists not that they are not worth it but We hardly survive here as locals,” Timmy said, thus making him feel he might as well venture into another source of income.

“Maybe next year I should just quit Music and venture into farming”, he said. In an open later to his fans and the music industry at large, Timmy said he understand that the music industry is a business that puts food on the table. Just like many local artists, Timmy admits that he survives out of talent, but it seems like he works for fun than make a living.

According to Timmy this is how our music industry works, “They book an artist from outside around P120 000-00 to around P 150 000-00 performance fee only of 45 mins to 1 hour. Then they still pay for their flights, accommodation, and meals. Then I receive a call for a booking, “send us a quote for our event next week sat” Then we quote P10 000-00, this includes, transport, accommodation, meals and attire for stage. Then they go “What??? Are you serious? That’s way beyond our budget”.
