Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for Land Board Membership in the respective Land Boards for the period 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020. The successful applicants should be between the ages of 26 and 70.

Qualifications:

Minimum of Junior Certificate (JC). Applicants/candidates with higher qualifications will have an added advantage.

Requirements:

In order to qualify as a candidate for appointment as Member of any Main Land Board or Subordinate Land Board, the applicant shall:

i) Be a citizen of Botswana, holding a valid identity card issued under the National Registration Act, CAP 01:02.

ii) Be a resident of the Tribal Area in respect of which s/he seeks appointment to the Main or Subordinate Land Board.

iii) Not be actively involved in party politics.

iv) Not have been declared insolvent or adjudged or bankrupt under any law in force in Botswana.

v) Not have been sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine for any offence, whether in Botswana or elsewhere.

vi) Be in good physical condition.

Competencies

Candidates who possess the following competencies shall have an added advantage: Planning & Execution, Leadership skills, Integrity, Team Work, and Communication Skills.

Core Duties

i) Management of land and formulation of strategies to facilitate access and utilization of land for socio-economic development of the country.

ii) Monitoring land use and development of land within their areas of jurisdiction.

iii) Developing, monitoring and implementing land policies in accordance with the provisions of the Tribal Land Act of 1968 Cap (32:02).

iv) Administer tribal land in trust for the benefit of citizens of Botswana with specific emphasis on determining and varying tribal land grants and conflict resolution on matters related thereto.

Allowances:

Members will be paid an allowance of P65 545.00 or
P89 432.00 per annum for the Sub Land Board or Main Land Board respectively.
